Save the date. Visit our open gardens in historic Swellendam, nestled at the foot of the Langeberg mountains just off the N2, to experience this unique Garden Expo featuring a gardeners’ market, scarecrow competition ,events and talks and excellent accommodation and eateries.

Swellendam Garden Club is hosting the Expo to showcase our magnificent and diverse gardens and to raise funds for the SPCA.

Town Hall, Voortrek Street
Mayor Francois du Rand will officially open the Expo to our
visitors, honoured guests and valued sponsors. Olivedale
wines and delicious snacks accompany the Charity Auction
of Scarecrows, book treasures and other surprises with a
garden photo exhibition.

Swellendam’s Heritage Roses (R30.00)

Wherever gardens were created, the Queen of Flowers, the
Rose was there. Planted to complement Cape Dutch buildings,
hear Carol tell how Gwen Fagan and Roses became part
of Swellendam’s history.

in the Overberg and Karoo. Watch the dust fly as our super-energetic
youngsters from Barrydale strut their stuff!

Gardeners Market

Come and browse our garden- themed market at the Drostdy Museum Schuur, where there is ample parking. Shop for a wide variety of garden goodies including indoor and outdoor plants and succulents plus unusual planters and garden ornaments. Find gardening books, tools, hats, aprons and so much more. Round off your visit with a delicious cuppa or a glass of wine while you watch local botanical artist Geoff Visser at work!
